We provide custom designed sports guards and appliances to help keep your teeth safe. Custom devices are made to fit the unique contours of your mouth so they fit comfortably without slipping.

Bite Appliances

Bite appliances, or night appliances, are used to prevent the damage caused by nighttime teeth grinding. The appliance holds your jaws in place so you can’t clench or grind your teeth. This prevents damage such as worn enamel or misaligned teeth that can occur.

Sports Guards

Custom sports guards cover your teeth and gums to protect them from direct impact or impact resulting from falling. The guard absorbs the energy from the impact and prevents injury. Plus, custom guards are designed to fit your mouth so you don’t have to worry about them slipping while you play.

Regular professional cleaning and dental exams are an important part of your dental health care. The American Dental Association recommends regular cleaning and exams. This prevents the buildup of plaque and tartar on your teeth and lets us detect health problems early so they can be treated before they can become serious.

Oral Hygiene

Regular cleaning by a dental hygienist removes plaque and tartar from your teeth to prevent the growth of decay-causing bacteria. During a hygiene appointment we will also polish your teeth and we may recommend a fluoride rinse to protect your teeth from cavities.

Dental Exam

During a dental examination, Dr. Douvas will examine your teeth and mouth for signs of decay, injury and other conditions. This lets us detect and monitor or treat these conditions to prevent them from getting worse. We will also perform an oral cancer screening to detect early signs of this potentially dangerous disease.

Because gum disease can be caused by gum infections, it’s important to ensure that your gums are healthy. We provide deep cleaning treatment to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth and reduce the chance that gum infections will occur.

Scaling and Root Planing

The two main deep cleaning techniques we use are scaling and root planing. Deep scaling is used to remove tartar buildup from above the gum line. Scaling is a similar technique where we remove irritants such as rough patches from the surface of your tooth roots. Both treatments reduce the chance your gums will become inflamed and vulnerable to infection.

We focus on dental education and prevention to help children keep healthy smiles. This means we combine lessons on proper brushing and flossing with regular cleaning and dental exams. We also offer fluoride treatment and dental sealants to protect your child’s teeth against cavities.

Seniors

We can assist seniors and their caregivers with their changing dental health needs. People are keeping their teeth longer, so it’s important for seniors to continue to have regular cleanings and dental exams. We can also assist with teaching at-home oral health care for patients with decreased mobility.

Dental restorations are treatments to repair damaged teeth. Your teeth can be damaged by an injury, decay, or conditions such as nighttime teeth grinding. We can repair the damage and restore the appearance and function of your teeth.

Fillings

We provide tooth colored fillings to repair cavities and other damage to your teeth. Fillings protect the treated tooth from further damage and restore its function. Plus, tooth colored fillings blend with your other teeth so they’re unnoticeable when you smile!

Crowns

Crowns are used to repair teeth that are badly damaged. The crown, or cap, goes over the top of the entire tooth and completely replaces it. Crowns are made from a variety of materials including tooth colored ceramic that blends with your natural smile.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are restorations used to repair damage to your molars. They look a bit like fillings once they are in place, but unlike fillings they are made in a dental laboratory and cemented into place in the tooth being treated. We use inlays and onlays to restore the strength and function of molars that are too damaged to support a regular filling. Onlays are used to restore the biting parts of the molar so they are made to be especially strong.

Bridges

We use bridges to restore teeth that have been lost. The bridge is made of an artificial tooth that is attached to the teeth on either side of the gap left by the missing tooth. Bridges are designed to resemble your natural teeth as closely as possible to restore the appearance of your smile.
